Things aren’t going that much better in the job search.
I had two interviews last week, one with the local community college and one for a cashier at a convenience store/storage unit rental place.
The interview at the college was on Tuesday ~ it was a skills test and prelim interview. Was told if I passed that, I would be called back for a second interview that week. However, I got a “we hired someone else” letter two days later, which just tells me that they already had someone in mind for the position. Could be they were promoting/hiring from within, and that’s great ~ but they should tell outside candidates that upfront. Either that, or I really suck.
The interview at the convenience store went well, I thought. I need to quit thinking that though, because nothing ever happens. I didn’t have experience, but she said you didn’t need it. They trained, and would rather have someone without experience. She said she would be making her decision by this past Monday. I didn’t get a call, so I guess I wasn’t what they were looking for.
Went to a job fair at the new hospital last week as well. We’d gotten a flier at the job service. However, when we got to the hospital, they said they were NOT having a job fair, that all their jobs were filled. Didn’t have a clue where we got the information that they were having a job fair. (There were probably 50 people there so we didn’t make it up.) Someone told the HR lady that the job service was handing out fliers, and she stood there with a dumb look on her face. Just another example of the great communication in this town.
I did apply for yet another job with the school district, two jobs with the county, and a marketing job at one of the casinos. We’ll see if anything comes from those apps.
Hubby put in several apps this week as well. He does have an interview Monday with Kmart.
I applied with Leapforce weeks ago, but have not heard anything. I also applied for several writing jobs this week, but have not heard on them either. I don’t expect to, unless I’m selected.
Did apply to a couple that turned out to be scams. I hate that.
I also answered a local Craigslist ad a couple of weeks ago for a local writer. She was excited that she’d gotten a response, and was pleased with my samples and my rates. I then didn’t hear anything for about a week so I emailed her. She replied that everything was still on, and she would get back with me in a day or so. It’s been a week. Guess I will email her again, as I really need this. If it’s not going to happen, I need to move on.
On a happy note though, I did finally get paid for the blog writing I did for July/August. The check came in the mail yesterday!
