Amos Tamam is the president and CEO of Verifone. Verifone provides electronic verification of credit and debit card payments, revolutionizing the way patrons can pay for products ranging from groceries to gasoline.
Thanks to Amos Tamam and Verifone, many users of taxicabs can now pay with credit and debit cards, eliminating the need, for both cab drivers and patrons, to carry cash on hand. First rolled out in Philadelphia, and expanded to New York, the Verifone Transportation System allows cab drivers to process payments electronically. Similar rollouts are planned for the cab systems in Los Angeles and Chicago. This technology is also available in limousines and other transportation services. Public transportation such as buses may soon also incorporate this technology, changing the way they accept fares.
Along with the electronic payment verification, Amos Tamam and his staff at Verifone have developed a touch screen monitor that provides cab riders with the ability to search for local information while in transit. Patrons can find information on restaurants, hotels and attractions, as well as local news and stories of interest, all from the back of their taxicab.
